Sivajeee...Chumma Adhurudhulle
I had purposely avoided seeing Sivaji in Seattle as Roxy theater probably does more harm than justice to ARR's music and being an ARR fanatic and an avid listener to Sivaji songs since the audio release, I thought I'd rather watch it in the comfort of our media room when the DVD is out. I had heard raving reviews from our friend Guhan and he is into movies and music probably as much as I am! On the other hand, some of the oldilocks in Chennai had mentioned that the movie was not upto their expectations!!!! Anyways, once my India trip was confirmed, Ramu confirmed my Sivaji tickets too! :) We drove to Sathyam and got there a little ahead of time. The watchman asked us the park in the annexe and chauffeured us there and drove us back on a mini-bus! I was zapped by the level of service offered..namma oora idhu? Anyways, as I entered the theater, the first thing that crossed my mind is "Seattle thothudhu"!! The theater had undergone such a massive change since I last saw 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' in October '98 (rings special bells for me)! The pop-corn stands mimicked the US and the air-conditioning was simply out of this world. The sound quality was unparalleled as well! I loooooooooooooooooooved the movie and the opulence was mind-blowing! Vaaji Vaaji sets were tooo good to be true...seen nothing like that ever before. Adhiradee was my favorite...chumma kalakku kalakku-nu kalakkirundhaanga ellarum! I TRULY missed Murali during every song. I've always wanted to watch this movie together with him and I probably will, but nothing like seeing it in Sathyam. Rajini sollave vendam..he just rocked as usual and looked stupendous in his mottai boss outfit :) Vivek was simply superb and Shreya looked goooooooooorgeous! What can I say...hats off to the entire Sivaji team! I am determined to go there one more time before I head back to Seattle!
